Shapesoda

Raster to vector converter

Automatic, accurate tracing of bitmaps into vector shapes — with the controls to make it exactly right.

No image? Try one of these:

Raster images store color pixel by pixel; vector graphics store shapes. Converting from one to the other — tracing — means finding the regions of the image, deciding their colors and fitting curves along their edges. Shapesoda does all three automatically and shows you each stage, so you can see where a shape comes from and adjust it.

How to convert raster to vector

  1. Drop, paste or choose your raster image file above. Tracing starts right away — no sign-up needed to see the result.
  2. Check the result in the split view. Adjust colors and detail in the panel on the right, or fix spots with the pencil, fill and remove-shape tools.
  3. Choose a vector format in the export menu and download. SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and PNG are all available from the same result.

What you can control

  • Image type — photo, artwork with blended edges, or artwork with sharp pixel edges.
  • Colors — two colors, a palette of your choice, or unlimited.
  • Shapes — complexity, minimum shape size, edge artifact cleanup.
  • Paths — smoothness, node count, sharp corners and sub-pixel edge placement.

Editing the result

Switch between the split, original, vector and segments views to inspect the tracing. Paint regions with the pencil and fill, dissolve a shape into its neighbors, pick colors from the image or remove shapes entirely. Every step can be undone.

Everything a clean vector needs

Accurate curves and corners

Smooth Bézier curves where the artwork is round, sharp corners where it's pointed — no wobbly edges.

Color palettes

Automatic palette suggestions, or pick exact colors yourself. Merge near-identical shades in one click.

Editing tools

Pencil, fill, color picker and shape removal right in the browser, with full undo and redo.

Batch processing

Drop a whole folder of images and download all the vectors at once.

All the formats

SVG for the web, PDF and EPS for print, DXF for cutters and CAD, PNG at any scale.

Private by design

Images are processed in memory and never kept beyond short-lived temporary storage. Never used for training.

Questions

Is the conversion automatic?

Yes. Most images need no adjustment. The controls are there for when you want fewer colors, more detail or cleaner curves.

How accurate are the curves?

Shapesoda fits smooth Bézier curves to round edges and keeps corners sharp where the artwork is pointed. You can trade accuracy for fewer nodes with the Nodes control.

Can I use it from my own software?

Yes. There is a REST API and an MCP server for AI agents; they share credits with the website.

What is a credit?

One credit is one downloaded image, in any format. Re-downloading the same image — even in another format — is free for 30 days.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits from packs never expire and stay on your account until you use them.

Do you store my images?

No. Images are processed in memory on our servers and are never written to disk. The editor keeps your image only while you work; files sent through the API sit in short-lived temporary storage so you can download the result, then disappear automatically. We never use your images to train models. The list of recent images on the start screen lives only in your browser.

Who owns the vector files?

You do. You keep all rights to the images you upload and to the vectors made from them — we claim none. Please upload only images you have the right to use.
