Convert icons to SVG

Turn PNG icons into sharp, lightweight SVGs for your website, app or design system.

No image? Try one of these:

Icons need to be sharp at 16 px and at 512 px, in light and dark themes, on every screen. A single SVG does that; a folder of PNG sizes doesn't. Shapesoda converts raster icons into compact SVGs with clean geometry, and handles both smooth anti-aliased icons and pixel-art icons with hard edges.

How to convert an icon to SVG

  1. Drop, paste or choose your icon file above. Tracing starts right away — no sign-up needed to see the result.
  2. Check the result in the split view. Adjust colors and detail in the panel on the right, or fix spots with the pencil, fill and remove-shape tools.
  3. Choose SVG in the export menu and download. Converting a whole icon set? Batch mode processes many files at once and returns a ZIP.

Tips for icons

  • Use the largest size of the icon you have; a 512 px source traces far better than a 32 px one.
  • Pixel-art icon? Shapesoda detects hard, non-anti-aliased pixel edges automatically; you can also set the image type to Sharp yourself.
  • Fewer colors means a smaller, simpler SVG — ideal for UI icons.
  • Lower the node count on the Paths controls for an even lighter file.

Using the SVG

The SVG works directly in HTML and CSS, in Figma and Sketch, and in icon pipelines. Copy it straight to the clipboard with Copy SVG and paste it into your code or design tool.

Questions

Can I recolor the icon afterwards?

Yes. Each color is a separate filled shape, so you can change fills in any vector editor or in CSS.

Will it convert emoji or third-party icons?

It converts any image technically, but only use icons you created or have a license to modify.

Can I automate icon conversion?

Yes. The REST API and the MCP server let scripts and AI agents convert icons with the same engine and credits.

What is a credit?

One credit is one downloaded image, in any format. Re-downloading the same image — even in another format — is free for 30 days.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits from packs never expire and stay on your account until you use them.

Do you store my images?

No. Images are processed in memory on our servers and are never written to disk. The editor keeps your image only while you work; files sent through the API sit in short-lived temporary storage so you can download the result, then disappear automatically. We never use your images to train models. The list of recent images on the start screen lives only in your browser.

Who owns the vector files?

You do. You keep all rights to the images you upload and to the vectors made from them — we claim none. Please upload only images you have the right to use.
